Recently, Cyviz had the privilege of attending the prestigious EENA 2024 conference hosted by the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) in Valencia, Spain. This annual event serves as a cornerstone for the public safety community, offering invaluable opportunities for collaboration, learning, and networking.

Key trends unveiled

Among the many insights shared at EENA 2024, one prevailing theme emerged: the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in emergency response. Staffing challenges within governmental emergency control rooms (112/crisis management) are driving the adoption of AI solutions. Issues such as understaffing and inflexible shifts are pervasive, underscoring the urgency for innovative approaches.

Discussions at the conference underscored the significance of addressing staffing challenges and leveraging technology to enhance emergency response capabilities.

AI applications highlighted include:

  • Language detection and real-time translations
  • Triage optimization for prioritizing interventions
  • AI-enabled chatbots for streamlined emergency interactions
  • Recording and analytics for improved decision-making
  • Background noise cancellation for clarity in communications

Additionally, there is a growing recognition of the importance of safeguarding the emotional well-being of emergency communications operators and first responders. AI innovations offer promising avenues for enhancing communication efficiency, reducing non-emergency call volumes, and cutting overall workloads.

Attendees highlighted increasing concerns surrounding cybersecurity threats, and we also picked up growing interest in video conferencing opportunities in control room environments, reflecting the evolving landscape of emergency response.

Cyviz’s role in the future of emergency response

EENA 2024 reaffirmed Cyviz’s pivotal role in shaping the future of emergency response. We recognize the importance of collaboration and innovation in addressing the challenges the public safety community faces. Integration tools, such as Microsoft Teams with Copilot, hold immense potential to enhance our solutions for governmental organizations further.
