Aker BP’s Vision for a World-Leading Collaboration Center
Aker BP is a Norwegian energy company at the forefront of digital transformation in the oil and gas industry, embracing a remote-first approach to optimize offshore operations. They aimed to create the next-generation Onshore Collaboration Centers (OCC) that would enhance real-time decision-making, enable seamless collaboration between offshore and onshore teams, and improve safety, efficiency, and operational flexibility.
To achieve this, Aker BP partnered with Cyviz to design and implement a high-performance visualization and collaboration solution, one that would revolutionize the way offshore operations are managed from onshore.
Cyviz technology is incredibly flexible, allowing us to share sources and data between different rooms and locations. My team is split between Stavanger and Trondheim, yet we can collaborate as if we are in the same room.
We have been testing and developing Cyviz technology together for years, and now we are expanding from 900 sqm to nearly 4,000 sqm with 9 Onshore Collaboration Centers. This is a journey of innovation, culture, and collaboration—where Cyviz plays a key role.
Challenge
The Need for a Scalable and More Connected Onshore Collaboration Centers
Aker BP’s previous Onshore Operations Center (OOC) was no longer fully aligned with the evolving demands of offshore drilling and well operations. Increasing requirements for space, capacity, and integrated data visualization created new challenges for decision-making and efficiency.
With increasing rig lines and the need for real-time collaboration between onshore teams, offshore rigs, and strategic partners, Aker BP needed a more advanced, scalable, and future-proof solution that can:
- Handle more rig lines and enable seamless multi-location collaboration.
- Improve real-time data visualization to ensure situational awareness across teams.
- Support 24/7 offshore drilling operations without downtime or technical disruptions.
Objective
Building a Future-Proof Collaboration Hub
Aker BP’s goal was clear: To establish one of the world’s most advanced Onshore Collaboration Centers, designed to:
- Enhance operational efficiency by improving real-time decision-making.
- Improve cross-team collaboration, seamlessly integrating offshore and onshore teams.
- Enable remote-first operations, reducing the need for unnecessary offshore presence.
- Future-proof their collaboration capabilities with scalable and standardized solutions.
