Delivering a Professional-Grade Broadcast and Coordination Hub for a Global Event
The Special Olympics World Games is one of the largest humanitarian sporting events in the world, drawing thousands of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and media partners from across the globe. For the 2019 event held in Abu Dhabi, organizers required a central command space that could serve multiple functions: media monitoring, operational oversight, VIP engagement, and live partner coordination. The room had to deliver flawless performance under pressure, with intuitive controls that enabled fast-paced decision-making and seamless broadcasting—regardless of who was using it.
Cyviz partnered with the Special Olympics organizing committee to design and implement a high-performance control and coordination hub. The room was built to support multiple use cases—combining real-time video feeds, social media monitoring, press updates, and stakeholder briefings in one visually immersive and easy-to-manage space. Powered by the Cyviz Easy Platform, the solution enabled operators to monitor and manage multiple sources simultaneously while shifting between presentation and operational modes. It served as both the digital operations center and a space to engage guests and partners throughout the Games.
An event of this scale demanded a flexible, highly visual collaboration environment that could handle simultaneous inputs from multiple broadcast channels, live scoring systems, and social media feeds. The setup also needed to accommodate a wide range of users—from technical operations staff to visiting dignitaries and partners—without introducing complexity. With time-sensitive decisions and non-stop media attention, organizers needed a solution that could adapt in real time, maintain consistent quality, and perform under pressure.
Cyviz implemented a fully integrated visualization and collaboration platform, tailored for high-stakes live environments. The room featured a large-format video wall capable of displaying multiple feeds side by side—ranging from live broadcast video to Twitter streams and scoreboard overlays. A central control interface allowed operators to switch views, adjust sources, and activate presentation modes instantly. The solution’s flexibility made it ideal for real-time operations during the day and partner presentations or press briefings in the evening—all within the same environment.
The multipurpose control room became a critical asset during the Games, ensuring that operations ran smoothly and that key stakeholders had real-time visibility into event activity. The system’s reliability and ease of use allowed staff to stay focused on content, not technology, while the visual setup left a lasting impression on VIP guests and international partners. The success of the project demonstrated how Cyviz can enable coordination, engagement, and broadcast readiness in a single, scalable solution—making it a model for future large-scale events.
With our high-end visualization and unified communication systems, Cyviz control rooms can be used for national intelligence, space programs and other special operations.
