Cyviz at Innovation Norway’s ‘Innovasjonstalen’ 2025
[Oslo, May 2025]
– Norwegian innovation needs more capital to scale
During this year’s “Innovasjonstalen 2025” by Innovation Norway, Cyviz CEO Espen Gylvik joined national leaders in discussing the role of high-growth companies in driving Norway’s economic transformation.
The event highlighted the need to double the number of Norwegian high-growth companies from 5,500 to 10,000 in the coming years.
Cyviz, a leading technology provider for collaboration and visualization, is an example of a Norwegian company that has successfully scaled internationally. Speaking at the event, Gylvik shared how Cyviz has accelerated its growth significantly since the pandemic, expanding through both organic growth and, increasingly, via a global partner ecosystem.
“After Covid, we grew three to four times and had to go public to secure the capital needed to continue our journey,” Gylvik explained. “Today, we see a new growth opportunity globally by scaling through partners.”
One of Cyviz’ major global milestones is its long-standing collaboration with Microsoft, where Cyviz technology powers over 30 Innovation Centers worldwide.
“It’s been an incredible experience working with Microsoft, one of our most important reference customers. When you have great products and great people to deliver, you also create satisfied customers. That’s been key to building long-term, strategic relationships – moving beyond traditional customer-supplier models.”
However, Gylvik also emphasized the structural challenges faced by Norwegian scale-ups, particularly in terms of access to capital.
“You get good support to get started, but the real challenge comes in the scaling phase, when you need significant, patient capital to expand globally. We see that there is a lack of available capital from both venture environments and from the publics when companies are ready to take the next leap.”
The call to action from Innovation Norway and industry leaders is clear: Norway needs more companies willing and able to scale globally, and the right conditions to enable them to do so.
