Cyviz Tech Supports Relief Efforts During Hurricanes Helene and Milton

Cyviz Operation Centers provide advanced control room set up solutions that set the standard for mission-critical environments. These command and control rooms support rapidly changing operations across various domains, including emergency management. The control room design delivers data visualization and collaboration capabilities for real-time situational awareness, critical data sharing, and enhanced communication to enable effective decision-making. Advanced control room display systems form the backbone of these emergency operations center installations.

Emergency Response Operations

During Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm that severely impacted southeastern states, the emergency operations center proved instrumental in delivering timely aid to affected military bases and communities. The control room display systems enabled operators to track and coordinate the distribution of essential supplies including meals, water, power generators, and medical supplies. Within 24 hours, more than 6,000 cases of bottled water, 4,800 cases of MREs, and 18,000 pounds of ice were distributed to one installation alone.

As power outages and water supply disruptions persisted, the command and control room coordinated with other federal agencies and military units to ensure continued support. This demonstrates how effective control room design integrates logistics and operational readiness to support both military missions and humanitarian relief efforts during emergencies.

Advanced Control Room Design Implementation

The ASOC represents multiple years of development aimed at enhancing DLA’s ability to synchronize its global logistics network, integrating various commodity support plans, and maintaining continuous readiness. The control room set up incorporates sophisticated control room display technology and streamlined workflows optimized for emergency operations center functionality.

“There are a lot of requirements coming in from numerous players, all of them working to arrange support as quickly as possible. Our goal here in the ASOC is to capture the requirements 24/7, synchronize the constant flow of information and data, and keep leaders informed so they can make timely decisions that shape our response,” says Air Force Lt. Col. Brian Campbell, chief of the ASOC’s Current Operations Branch.

Cyviz Operation Centers are advanced, high-performance solutions that have long set the standard for mission critical environments. These dynamic spaces for rapidly changing operations across various domains, including emergency management, deliver exceptional data visualization and collaboration for real-time situational awareness, sharing of critical data, and enhanced communication enable responsive and effective decision-making.

An example of a Cyviz Operation Center is the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) ASOC (Agency Synchronization Operations Center) located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia1. This center plays a crucial role in coordinating responses to various crises, including natural disasters such as the recent Hurricanes Helene and Milton. As a central hub for the DLA operations unit, the ASOC provided a comprehensive oversight of the situation as it developed ensuring streamlined support across multiple regions and branches of the U.S. military and the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA).

During Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm that severely impacted multiple states across the southeastern U.S., the ASOC was instrumental in delivering timely aid to affected military bases and communities. The DLA ASOC provided essential supplies such as meals, water, power generators, and medical supplies. Within 24 hours of the hurricane, more than 6,000 cases of bottled water, 4,800 cases of MREs, and 18,000 pounds of ice were distributed to one installation alone.

As power outages and water supply disruptions persisted, the ASOC coordinated with other federal agencies and military units to ensure continued support. This level of organization and quick response highlights how the ASOC integrates logistics and operational readiness to aid in both military missions and humanitarian relief efforts during emergencies like Hurricane Helene and Milton.
